CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — After a months-long search, a man accused of using counterfeit money to make purchases off of Facebook Marketplace is in custody.
Investigators with the Clarksville Police Department said 31-year-old Laquinton Tillman had been involved in several fraudulent activities on Facebook Marketplace since August.
The search for Tillman lasted a little over three months before he was arrested on Monday, Feb. 5. Police said he is potentially facing more charges as evidence is presented to the Montgomery County Grand Jury.
During their investigation, detectives reportedly identified multiple Facebook Marketplace sellers who had received counterfeit money from Tillman after posting an item for sale.
However, authorities suspect that there may be even more victims who unknowingly received counterfeit money from Tillman.
Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of Tillman's alleged fraudulent activities is asked to contact Detective Neal at 931-648-0656, ext. 5538, and provide any relevant information or evidence to assist in the investigation.
In order to avoid falling victim to fraud, the police department advises the public to use vigilance and caution when engaging in online transactions, especially when dealing with cash payments.
