CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A driver has been taken into custody following a collision in Clarksville that sent a woman to the hospital Saturday night.
The Clarksville Police Department said the two-vehicle crash took place shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24 in front of Zaxby's in the 1600 block of Fort Campbell Boulevard, shutting down two southbound lanes.
When officials first announced the crash just after 10 p.m., they said the "status of the injuries" was unknown at the time and urged motorists to avoid the area until the road was cleared.
In an update released shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25, police said a woman was heading southbound on Fort Campbell Boulevard when she was rear-ended by a white Jeep. The woman was flown to Nashville via life-flight helicopter and is reportedly in stable condition.
According to authorities, a witness saw the Jeep traveling northbound on Fort Campbell Boulevard and shared information with the 911 center.
Police said they made contact with the driver close to Tiny Town Road and took the driver into custody. He was later identified by CPD as 35-year-old Daniel Harmon, a soldier stationed at Fort Campbell.
Harmon is charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in an injury, open container and implied consent.
