CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Seven years ago, Clarksville police began investigating after then-58-year-old Bernard Thomas Nelson's family said they could not find him anywhere.

Family members and investigators checked local homeless shelters and followed any leads presented but were never able to locate Nelson. The official missing person report was filed on March 14, 2017.

According to police, Nelson's family informed them that he was homeless at the time. Many drivers would often see him panhandling on the side of Madison Street in Clarksville, but the sightings stopped after that day in March 2017.

In addition to not being able to find Nelson, his family told detectives he had not picked up any of his disability checks since he went missing. Family members explained that Nelson is partially blind and hard of hearing.

The Clarksville Police Department entered Nelson into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) in an effort to help find him. However, the case largely remains a mystery years later.

Investigators said Nelson has black hair and brown eyes and would sometimes go by the nickname “Poo Poo.” He is around 5-feet, 11-inches tall and weighs around 150 pounds.
