2 dead after crash on Madison Street in Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) -- Two people died following a Sunday morning crash that involved a motorcycle and a vehicle in Clarksville, officials said. 

According to the Clarksville Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 9:07 a.m. on Sunday, March 17 at the intersection of Madison Street and Richview Road. 

Less than 45 minutes after the wreck, authorities reported the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Several hours later, police announced the passenger in the front seat of the vehicle hit by the motorcycle died because of his injuries. The victims' names will not be released until officials notify their next of kin.

There is no word on the condition of the vehicle's driver at this time.

The westbound lanes of Madison Street at Richview Road were shut down until crews could clear the scene. As of 2 p.m., the roadway is back open, according to authorities.

No additional details have been released about the circumstances surrounding this deadly crash.
