MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) -- A tractor-trailer driver was killed in a Monday evening crash in Montgomery County, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).
Authorities said the incident took place shortly before 5:45 p.m. on Monday, May 13 at mile marker 15.6 on Interstate 24.
Based on the preliminary report from THP, a 2023 Freightliner tractor-trailer was heading eastbound on I-24 when it veered off the side of the road and hit several trees. After the vehicle came to a stop, it caught on fire.
Officials said the driver, 63-year-old Randy Rudd of Tennessee, died in the crash. It is unknown whether he was wearing his seatbelt at the time.
