Severely injured man flown to Nashville following Hopkinsville crash

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WKRN) -- A collision in Hopkinsville sent at least two people to different hospitals Saturday evening, including a man who was flown to Nashville with severe injuries, officials said.

Hopkinsville Fire/EMS announced on Facebook at 5:39 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 that units were responding to a crash involving an ejection by Love's Travel Center on Fort Campbell Boulevard near Interstate 24.

According to WKDZ Radio, the Hopkinsville Police Department said a northbound SUV was turning into the Marathon gas station when it hit a southbound truck. The 24-year-old SUV driver was reportedly ejected from the vehicle and left with severe head injuries.

Shortly before 7:15 p.m., Hopkinsville Fire/EMS updated its post, saying a severely injured man in his 20s was transported via helicopter to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.

Fire officials said one other person was transported from the scene, adding that the individual was brought to Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville in stable condition. However, WKDZ Radio reported the truck driver and his passenger were taken to Jennie Stuart Health in Hopkinsville and Tennova Healthcare to be treated for injuries.

The radio station said Fort Campbell Boulevard would be blocked for several hours while authorities reconstructed the collision.

Police are still investigating the cause of Saturday's crash, so no additional details have been confirmed about the incident.
