CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Clarksville school leaders are set to approve the construction of a brand-new elementary school, along with some big renovations.
This has been in the works for a while, as Montgomery County is seeing a lot of growth.
The school board has been shifting attendance zones to make room for new schools, as well as repurposing old schools, so the need for more space is crucial.
According to Clarksville Now, back in February, the school board approved the plan to spend nearly $45 million for the construction of the school on an 18-acre lot off of Fort Campbell Boulevard.
According to the construction timeline, work on the new school, called Freedom Elementary, could begin next month.
The district is also working to renovate the Burt Innovation Center, which used to be an elementary school.
The renovation would provide students with hands-on skills for real-life experiences like starting businesses, launching products, and delivering services that create value in real industries.
What's being recommended for renovations of the Burt Center would cost about $2 million.
