Clarksville helping residents stay cool in summer heat

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — With the summer heat in full swing, one Middle Tennessee city is making sure its residents stay cool.

Clarksville has a neighborhood service that officials said not many know about just yet.

Clarksville residents who need an HVAC repair need only send in a request, and the city will hire out one of its repair vendors to fix it.

Those who take advantage of the service simply pay the vendor based on their income, meaning certain residents could see the service done completely free or qualify for a low-interest loan through the city.

"We see a lot of customers and clients use this program in the winter, when they kick their heat on for the first time come fall," Director of Clarksville Neighborhood and Community Services Michelle Austin said.

The service is limited to those within the city limits and only to homeowners.

The program runs year-round.

To make an HVAC request or any neighborhood service request, you can find the neighborhood services section under the departments tab on the city's website.
