NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Robbery detectives with the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) worked with Montgomery County authorities and a carjacking victim to arrest a Clarksville man accused of targeting a victim in a mall parking lot.

An investigation showed the suspect, identified as Richmond F. Cheah, followed a 62-year-old woman into a Nashville shopping mall from the parking garage and appeared to wait for her. About an hour and a half later, Cheah was seen walking into the parking garage followed by the woman.

The woman reported to police that as she approached her Mercedes sedan, Cheah walked up to her and showed her a pistol before demanding her keys and purse. She said she complied out of fear before Cheah drove off in her car.

However, detectives were able to use tracking technology to see the car had been driven to Clarksville. The MNPD notified officers with the Clarksville Police Department, who apprehended Cheah after a pursuit.

Although Cheah initially refused to speak to Clarksville officers or give identifying information after his arrest, detectives were able to issue an arrest warrant out of Davidson County charging him with aggravated robbery. The MNPD said Cheah would be returned to Clarksville "in the near future."
